Notes
It has many dates, the last of which is: 828. The author of the record is Muhammad ibn Abi al-Walid Muhammad ibn Abi al-Fadl Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Mahmoud ibn al-Shihab Ghazi ibn Ayyub ibn Mahmoud al-Shihna al-Halabi al-Hanafi, as mentioned in his handwriting in folio 4b, and he is not Muhammad ibn al-Shihna who died in the year 815 AH (Dictionary of Authors 11/295). A precious copy, most of which is in the handwriting of Ibn al-Shihna himself, and the rest of it is in the handwriting of contemporary scholars. (Ninth century AH) Ibn al-Shahna arranged it according to the cities in which he took knowledge from its scholars and approved it. He also arranged it in the style of parts without regard to the number of its leaves. The copy included thirty parts, ranging between two and 25 leaves. He appended to some parts an index of what the part contained, including readings, approvals, and audio recordings in his handwriting, in addition to approvals in his handwriting and the handwritings of the scholars of his time. The record also included literary texts and poetic poems narrated by Ibn al-Shahna. With his chain of transmission and his hearing, the texts in it were written generally in dark violet black ink, and occasionally brown tan ink, and Ibn al-Shihna or someone else used very little red ink to write a set of alert lines here or there on a fine, white, Levantine Arab al-Najjar al-Najjar Shami-made ink made of cotton fibers or rags and the fibers of the stems of the flax plant. The copy was the property of Professor Saad Muhammad Hassan, may God have mercy on him, and it had the handwriting of al-Zubaidi, the owner of Taj al-Arous. Note: For more information about this evidence, see: My friend, the scholar, described the evidence, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Tanahi, in his Index of Anecdotes No.: 15.
