Notes Maraqi al-Falah Sharh Nur al-Idah (Rise to Success. Commentary on the Light of Clarity) is a reference book on the practice of religion in accordance with the tradition of the Hanafi madhhab, written by the jurist Hassan al-Shurunbulali (1585 or 1586-1659). This work, which has been reprinted many times, is a detailed guide to the practice. rituals according to the teachings of the founder of the Hanafi school of Islamic law, Abu Hanifa (699-767). The book deals in detail with such topics as ritual purity, fasting and pilgrimage. The author al-Shurunbulali was born in the Nile River Delta, educated at al-Azhar University in Cairo, where he eventually became an outstanding teacher. In this book, he comments on his earlier work on the same topic, entitled "Nur al-Idah" ("Light of Clarification") Texts on the law and the performance of rituals are often accompanied by commentaries in the margins, and "Maraqi al-falyah" is no exception. In this case, the commentaries were compiled by the Hanafi scholar of the early 19th century, Ahmad ibn Muhammad al-Tahtawi, born in the Upper Egyptian city of Takhta, educated at the university. al-Azhar. His commentary in this book is devoted to the same topic as the other two works included in it. Apparently, there was a quarrel between at-Tahtawi and some Hanafi teachers, but over time he managed to return to their goodwill. The historian al-Jabarti notes that at-Tahtawi's father was a Turk, which may have been the reason for his choice in favor of the Hanafi madhhab. This book was published in Cairo. in the Al-Khairiya printing house, founded by Muhammad Abd al-Wahid al-Tubi and Umar Hussein al-Khashshab next to the Al-Azhar mosque.
