Notes This work is a commentary on the work "Shirgat al-Islam" ("Islamic Law") by Muhammad ibn Abu Bakr al-Jugha (1098–1177). Al-Jughi was known as Imam Zadeh, a theologian and imam in Bukhara (modern Uzbekistan). The commentary, written by Ya'qub ibn Sa'id Ali al-Bursawi (died c. 1524), is a lengthy book that deals with matters of faith, morals and daily rules of life within the framework of Islamic legal norms. The work consists of 61 sections, which are called books. Particular attention is paid to ethics. The text sets out guidelines for prayer, visiting the mosque, jihad, charity, fasting, as well as rules regarding food and drink, hospitality, marriage and modes of communication.
