| Sample Text | The shahada is a testimony spoken aloud that God is one and that Muhammad is his prophet. The shahada is a statement commonly pronounced in Arabic: "ashhadu an lailahaillá l-Laha (waashhadu 'anna) Muhammadanrasulu l-Lahi, there is no god but one God and Muhammad is God's prophet." Likewise, it is said that at the moment of dying, an individual should recite this statement of faith. In the adhan (call to prayer) it is pronounced loudly. Saying that statement is a key part of a person's acceptance of Islam. Sala is an Islamic prayer. The hall consists of five daily prayers: Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Ishaa. Fajr is performed before dawn, Zuhr is performed when the sun begins to descend from the zenith, Asr is performed in the afternoon, Maghrib is the prayer at sunset, and Ishaa is the evening prayer. Each prayer consists of a certain number of raka (positions). |
