| Sample Text | The parts of the sunna that consist of the prophet's words were in the language of his companions themselves, so they knew what they meant and understood their meaning and context. As for the prophet's deeds, his companions usually attended them and told others exactly what they saw. For example, hundreds of people saw the Prophet perform ablution before prayer, wudu and then accepted his practice without asking him for details, such as which wudu acts are obligatory and which are recommended, which are just permissible and which are not. Similarly, they attended his pilgrimage and prayer and other examples of religious practices. |
