Sample Text Islam (al-Islam) is a monotheistic religion articulated in the Koran, a scripture that its followers consider the literal word of God (Allah) and the teachings and normative examples (called sunna and composed of hadith) of Muhammad, who they consider the last prophet of God. A follower of Islam is called a Muslim. Muslims believe that God is one and that nothing can be compared to him and that the purpose of existence is faith in God. Muslims also believe that Islam is a complete and comprehensive version of the original faith that was revealed many times before and in various places, including through Abraham, Moses and Jesus whom they consider prophets. They keep those previous messages and the revelations have been partially changed or corrupted over time, but they consider the Koran to be both unchanged and the last revelation of God. Year of publication: 1640.
