| Sample Text | Umar broke into the house; Fatima, who was pregnant, was hit by a door. She suffered the miscarriage of an unborn son who is mourned by the Shias as Muhsin ibn Ali. Umar injured her and she died soon after. But he buried her secretly, at night because he did not want to be attended by Abu Bakr and Umar whom he accused of her death. The Shiites therefore blame Abu Bakr and Umar for the death of Muhammad's daughter and grandson. Some Shias believe that Ali took pity on the suffering of his loyal followers and submitted to Abu Bakr only after Fatima, his wife and daughter-in-law of Muhammad, became angry with Abu Bakr because he refused to give her the right to inherit the garden of Fadak. The reason for this may be the unity that he may have helped them in legal matters and administration, but he could never acknowledge his own obedience to them. Other Shias say that Ali did not submit but merely refrained from asserting his claims. Whatever happened, superficial unity was restored. Year of publication: 1642/43. |
