Sample Text The name Muhammad means praised and is mentioned four times in the Koran. The Qur'an addresses Muhammad in the second singular, not by name but by titles such as prophet, messenger, servant of God (abd), messenger (bashir), witness (shahid), bearer of good news (mubashir), warner (natir), reminder (mudakir), one who calls [God] (daji), personification of light (nur) and lamp that gives light (siraj munir). Muhammad is sometimes referred to as a description arising from his state at the time of the address: thus he is referred to as wrapped (al-muzamil) in Qur'an 73:1 and enveloped (al-mudatir) in Qur'an 74:1. In the Qur'an, believers should not distinguish between God's messengers and should believe in all of them (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:285).
