| Sample Text | Al-Khatib was an ascetic, hard-working scholar inclined to faith, a reliable expert on hadith, who lived far from princely courts, generous, serious and sincere in ruling and tireless and careful in his work. He wrote ten thousand pages in a total of one hundred and four books, many of which remain to this day authoritative manuals in the field of hadith science noted for their insight and versatility. In the introduction to the work Sharhnuhba al-fikar, Ibn Hajar said the following: "There is hardly any scientific discipline in the field of hadith in which al-Khatib was not the author of a work." He then quoted Hadith expert Ibn Nukta: "Whoever gives credit where credit is due knows that all scholars of Hadith after al-Khatib depend on his books." Year of publication: 1763/64. |
