Sample Text In his autobiography, Ibn Khaldun traces his ancestors to the time of Muhammad through an Arab tribe from Yemen, more precisely the Hadramaut, which came to Spain at the beginning of the Islamic conquest, in the eighth century. This is how he said it: "And our ancestors are from Haramaut, from the Arabs of Yemen, through Wail ibn Hajar, who belongs to the best Arabs, well-known and respected." However, biographer Mohamad Enan questions this claim, saying that his family members were Mulads who pretended to be of Arab descent in order to gain social status. Enan also mentions a well-documented tradition dealing with some Berber groups where they falsely glorify themselves with some kind of Arab origin. Date of publication: 1805.
