| Sample Text | The original Muslims of Medina, the Ansar, held a meeting to discuss among themselves the choice of a new leader to rule their part of the community. When the news of the gathering spread, Ab Bakr, Umar and Abu Ubayd ibn al-Jara rushed to the gathering. Abu Bakr claimed that the Islamic community would disintegrate if the Ansar chose a leader who would lead only the Ansar. The new leader must come from the Quraysh tribe, Muhammad's clan; any other choice would destroy the community. Saad ibn Ubada agreed with that. |
