I have brought you the goods of this world and the next and my lords have commanded me to invite you to it. Therefore, who among you will support me in this so that he will be my brother (ahi), my successor (wasiy) and my khalifa (khalifat)?" This was the first time that Muhammad openly and publicly invited his relatives to accept him as a messenger and prophet of God, as well as the first time that he invited someone to help him in his mission. |
