| Sample Text | In 2008, a Pakistani religious leader issued a fatwa against President Asif Ali Zardari for making "indecent gestures" toward Sarah Palin, the US vice presidential candidate. In 2008, an Indian ulema from the world famous Deoband seminary categorically issued a fatwa against terrorism and mentioned that any kind of killing of innocent people or civilians is haram or prohibited. The fatwa also explained that there is no jihad in Kashmir or against India because freedom in the region is guaranteed by the state, since any state that guarantees freedom of religion will be silently exposed to jihad. That fatwa was reissued in 2009 when India's Home Minister P. Chidrambram hailed the act. |
