| Sample Text | Sura al-Kahf "The Cave" (Arabic: Suratu al-Kahf) is the eighteenth sura of the Qur'an with one hundred and ten verses. It is a Meccan surah. Verses 9-26 of this chapter talk about the people of the cave (Ashabu Al-Kahf). A certain number of young monotheists lived at the time when they were persecuted. Together they fled the city and found refuge in a cave where they fell asleep. God kept them asleep for three hundred solar or three hundred and nine lunar years, and when they woke up, monotheism also reigned in their area. In verses 32-44 the surah discusses the story of two people, one of whom was blessed by God and the other was poor. The rich man corrupted his soul and began to boast of his wealth and noble origin. And he had fruit, so he told his friend the following: "I am richer than you and more powerful than many people." -Quran, Al-Kahf (The Cave), verse 34 At the end of the story, God destroys what He gave to that man.
