| Sample Text | The science of methodology of sources in Islamic jurisprudence, usul al-fiqh, is defined as an aggregate of legal evidence and testimonies which, after proper study, will lead either to certain knowledge about some Sharia regulation or at least to a rational claim related to the same, the way in which these evidences are cited and the status of the one who cites them. Regarding the subject of study, this science deals with the evidence in Sharia texts, looking at them from the perspective of how, with the help of ijtihad, judicial decisions are derived from particulars; although later, in cases where mutually contradictory texts are found, the rule of precedence was established. The science of usul al-fiqh creates the ability to acquire knowledge of the Shari'ah rules through the teaching of those who are trained to apply ijtihad and who meet all its requirements of legal evidence revealed by the legislator in the sources |
