| Sample Text | Muhammad Abduh (died 1905) from Egypt, is considered one of the most prominent representatives of the modernist school of interpretation of the Koran. He spent his life as a teacher, later as a judge, mufti, pronouncing verdicts, fatwas that were the embodiment of a modernist attitude. He argued against the traditional initiative of tafsir. His incomplete interpreter of the Qur'an, Tafsir al-manar, based on his lectures, and the text of legal decisions were edited and published by Rashid Rida, his follower. |
