| Sample Text | The study of the Arabic language was of great importance in the Islamic world. It was a matter of reputation and the need to be part of the Muslim community. The Arabic language was, first of all, important to learn in order to read, repeat aloud and understand the Koran, the holy book of Muslims. Much like Latin in medieval Europe, Arabic was also the language of science. Numerous non-Arab peoples, among whom the Persians and Turks played a leading role, wrote in Arabic, which led to their works being acceptable in their time. Year of publication: 1525. |
