| Sample Text | The introduction was translated from the Syriac model into Arabic by Ibn al-Muqafa. With the Arabicized name of Isagudzi, it long remained the standard introductory text to logic in the Islamic world and influenced studies in theology, philosophy, grammar, and jurisprudence. In addition to adaptations and abridged editions of this work, many independent works by Islamic philosophers appeared under the title of Isagudži. Porphyry's discussion of case stimulated a long debate about the application of case and substance. |
