| Sample Text | The new system developed from ideas about the functioning of syntax and figurative speech in literature, which more than a century earlier had been expounded, without much coherence, in the Dalaelejaz al-Qoran and the Asrar al-balaga by Abd-al-QaherJorjani (d. ca. 471/1078). The literary disciplines were arranged into a scholastic system by Sakaki (555-626/1160-1228) in his work on the classification of sciences, Meftah al-olum, and then popularized through digests from Sakkaki's work made by Jalal-al-Din Mohammad Qazvini, known also as Katib Demašq (d. 739/1338), Sad-al-Din Taftazani (d. 792/1390), and others.
