| Sample Text | As in most Turkic languages of the Islamic community, initially Arabic borrowings were not the result of direct exposure of Ottoman Turkish to Arabic, a fact that is observed in the typically Persian phonological mutation of words of Arabic origin. The conservation of archaic phonological features of Arabic loanwords also hints that Persian with Arabic loanwords was absorbed into Ottoman Turkish in a very early period while the speakers were still settled in northeastern Persia before the migration of Islamic Turkic tribes to the west.
