| Sample Text | Ibn Hazm (994-1064) wrote a work called Domain of Logic in which he emphasized the importance of sense perception as a source of knowledge. Al-Ghazali (Alghazel) (1058-1111) had a significant influence on the use of logic in theology by using Avicenna's logic in kalam (Islamic theology). Despite al-Ghazali's logical refinement, the rise of the Shari'a school from the twelfth century slightly suppressed original work on logic in much of the Islamic world, although logic continued to be a subject of study in some Islamic areas such as Persia and the Middle East. |
