Sample Text Islamic medicine had its own practice and began to resemble our modern medicine. Such medical practice was far ahead of Europe, which lived in the Dark Middle Ages. Belief in the Koran and hadiths was in the center of attention and based on them, Muslims have a duty to take care of the sick and such activity was considered the prophet's medicine. Based on those sayings, the prophet Muhammad believed that Allah sent a cure for every disease and that Muslims should take care of the health of body and spirit. Many hadiths have instructions for a holistic approach to health. After the rise of Islam, there were debates about whether Islamic doctors should apply Greek, Chinese, and Indian medical techniques since they were considered pagans. Such debates were ended by giving doctors the freedom to choose which technique they wanted to adopt. Year of publication: 1698/99.
