| Sample Text | Muhammad's father Abdullah died almost six months before his son was born. According to Islamic tradition, shortly after his birth, Muhammad was sent to the desert to live with a Bedouin family, as it was believed that a desert life was healthier for young children. Muhammad stayed with his stepmother Halimah bint Abi Duayba and her husband until he was two years old. Some Western experts on Islam have rejected the tradition as historically accurate. When he was six years old, Muhammad lost his biological mother Amina to an illness and became a complete orphan. For the next two years, he was under the care of his paternal grandfather, Abd al-Muttalib of the Banu Hashim clan, but when Muhammad turned eight, his grandfather also died. |
