Sample Text In the third century of Islam (from 225/840 to about 275/889), six hadith experts compiled short works recording about two to five thousand selected hadiths that they considered to be the most correctly documented or most broadly relevant to the scholarly community of Muslims. During the fourth and fifth centuries A.H., those six works were often commented upon. Supporting literature has contributed to making their study a useful point in all serious studies of hadith. In addition, Bukhari and Muslim in particular claimed to collect only the most correct of the correct hadiths. Later scholars verified their claims and agreed with them so that today their collections are considered the most reliable collections of hadith.
