| Sample Text | Although the form of writing tafseer in modern times is the same in order to explain the text and make it suitable, there are other areas where efforts are made to interpret the Qur'anic text in the light of modern and scientific rationalism. The oldest work with such an attempt was written by Sajid Ahmad Khan (died 1898). His contemporary but incomplete commentary on this subject had a simple title - Tafsir al-Qur'an (Interpretation of the Qur'an). He tried to interpret the question of revelation, miracles and the message of the Qur'an in the light of the existing enlightenment in the West. To encourage social and educational reforms, he tried to balance Western and Eastern ideas and to support them with the Qur'an. |
