| Sample Text | A lot of people visited Mecca on business or as a pilgrimage to Kaaba. Muhammad used this opportunity to find a new home for himself and his followers. After several unsuccessful negotiations, he found refuge with some people from Yathrib (later called Medina). Monotheism was close to the Arab population of Yatriba and preparations were made for the appearance of the prophet because there was a Jewish community there. They also hoped that with the help of Muhammad and the new religion, they would gain supremacy over Mecca, as they were jealous of its importance as a place of pilgrimage. |
