| Sample Text | The Koran does not speak directly about the part of inheritance of male descendants through the father's line, although it clearly states that the share of male descendants is twice that of female descendants. Sunni jurists hold the view that the intention of the Qur'anic regulations was not to completely replace the old customary inheritance system, but only to rearrange it with the aim of improving the position of the relatives of the deceased. Sunni Islamic inheritance law therefore represents a fusion of Qur'anic law superimposed on the old customary law to form a complete and cohesive system. Year of publication: 1584/85. |
