Sample Text Boethius' translation of the work into Latin became a standard medieval textbook in European schools and universities, setting the stage for the medieval development of logic in the domain of philosophy and theology, as well as the question of universals. Numerous authors, such as Boethius himself, Averroes, Abelard, Scotus, wrote commentaries on Isa's logic. Other authors, such as William of Ockham, included them in their logic textbooks. In medieval textbooks, the all valid Porphyry's Tree (Arbor porphyriana) shows his logical classification of substances. To this day, taxonomy benefits from Porphyry's tree in the classification of living organisms. Year of publication: 1825.
