| Sample Text | The first original work on logic in Arabic was compiled by al-Kindi (Alkindus) (805-873), who wrote a summary of logic up to his own time. The first work on logic with non-Aristotelian elements was composed by al-Farabi (Alfarabi) (873-950), who discussed the topics of future contingencies, the number and relationships of categories, the relationship between logic and grammar, and non-Aristotelian forms of reasoning. He also gained recognition for dividing logic into two separate parts, the first representing a concept and the second denoting evidence. Year of publication: 1567/1568. |
