Sample Text "If it is inherited from a male or female kalal (one who has neither heirs nor ancestors) and he (or she) has a brother or sister on the mother's side, then each of them inherits one-sixth. But if there are more of them (brothers and sisters on the mother's side) than that, they all share one-third equally. (Quran 4:12) The interpretation of the second part of verse 4:12 is a source of contradictions, one of which is the meaning of the word kalal. The word kalala occurs in only two places in the Koran (4:12 and 4:176) and both times kalala can mean one who leaves neither parent nor child. It is generally taken to mean the former. There is general agreement that the brothers and sisters referred to in this verse are in fact brothers and sisters on the mother's side (those who have the same mother but not the same father). Year of publication: 1725.
