Sample Text There is a great number of Ottoman scholars. One of the most promiment was Ahmad Ibn Mustafa Tašköprüzade. He was born in Bursa in 901 A.H. (1495 AD) and died in Istanbul in 968 A.H. (1561 AD). He had a significant achievement in various fields of Islamic sciences, such as: tefsir (interpretations of Al-Quran), hadith (tradition of prophet Muhammad), fiqh (principles of Islamic jurisprudence). He was a mudarris (teacher) in many places. He was convinced that learning should be obligatory both for men and women. During the period of three years, 1551-1554, he was a qadi (judge in Islam) in Istanbul. His grave is surrounded with a wall. Year of publishing: 1725.
