Sample Text According to the Islamic belief in predestination or divine predetermination (al-qada wal-qadar), God has complete knowledge and control over everything that happens. This is explained in the Qur'anic verses that read: "Say: Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our protector..." According to the belief of Muslims, everything that happens in the world, good or bad, is predetermined and nothing can happen unless God has allowed it. Based on the claims of Islamic theologians, although events are predestined, man rationalizes with free will to the extent that he is capable of choosing between good and evil and is therefore responsible for his own actions. According to Islamic tradition, everything that God has predestined is recorded in a preserved tablet (al-Lauh al-mahfuz).
