Sample Text Likewise, Sunnis mark other important life moments with a tradition based on the behavior of Muhammad and his community. And while these are not organized ceremonies per se, there is a ritual component to the way it is conducted. It includes practices such as ritual hair cutting at the end of the hajj, circumcision of small boys, or certain celebrations after the birth of a child (called aqeeqah). Since Sunnis are careful to follow the established Sunnah of Muhammad, often an Islamic dignitary or imam will be present at these ceremonies, although it is important to remember that the imam is not essentially a member of the clergy as is the case with the priest and rabbi. In the notes of the former owner of the manuscript, it is written that he bought it for 120 Ottoman dirhams in Erzurum from a Persian in 966 A.H. (began on October 14, 1558). Year of publication: 1477.
