| Sample Text | The first grammatical treatise of undoubted authenticity is Sibavajhi's work entitled "Kitab" (the title means book or Sibavajhi's book). It is probably the first attempt at an understandable and systematic description of the Arabic language at all levels; phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. In addition to what has already been said, Sibawajhi received his primary education from the great teacher Al-Khalil Al-Farahidi. That man made the greatest contribution in that he created metrics, phonetics, lexicology and some subjects related to syntax. Year of publication: 1728. |
