| Sample Text | Islamic or Arabic astronomy implies the development of astronomy in the Islamic world, especially during the Golden Age (8th-15th centuries) and is mostly recorded in the Arabic language. Islamic astronomy later had a significant influence on Indian, Byzantine and European astronomy (see Latin translations from the twelfth century), as well as on Chinese and Malayan astronomy. A large number of stars in the sky, such as Aldebaran and Altair theastronomical terms, such as alidada, azimuth and almukantar bear Arabic names. The large corpus of literature in the domain of Islamic astronomy today numbers approximately ten thousand manuscripts all over the world, a large number of which have not yet been read or cataloged. Year of publication: 1691. |
