| Sample Text | Sunni Muslims consider Ali one of the prominent companions of Muhammad, among ten of them, including Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman, who were promised paradise. They also consider Ali as one of the rightful caliphs and accept the hadiths narrated by him. They reject the Shia view where Ali believes that Abu Bakr undeservedly acquired the inheritance. Shiites believe that only when a prophet is appointed by God himself, only God has the right to appoint a successor to his prophet. They believe that God chose Ali as the successor, the infallible one chosen by God. Therefore, they say that Muhammad named Ali as his successor before his death. |
