While a reader of works in his native language takes many years to develop his own understanding of vocabulary and idioms, and a person perfecting a foreign language can devote attention to learning them, a student of many, varied and difficult Islamic sciences needs relatively little time to acquire such a detailed knowledge of a complex foreign language in order to read and acquire a critical attitude towards works written many centuries ago. |
