| Sample Text | Islamic world likes poetry. It was not considered as a literal expression of an intellectual elite, as it still is the case in the West, but a kind of intellectual property of all people. That tradition dates from pre-Islamic period, legendary poets in Arabia who were appreciated and cherished among their fellow tribesmen. The poetry was even ascribed certain magic attributes. Arabic language, originally tongue of Bedouins, could express all its qualities thanks to elaborated versification, which has been developed formany centuries. This a collection of verses in Ottoman Turkish language, which used to be a hybrid language consisting elements of Arabic, Persian and Turkish, also created a great poetry tradition. Year of publishing: 1759. |
