| Sample Text | The Koran, the holy book of Muslims, literally means loud recitation. It is a book sent by Allah, God, through the revelation of Muhammad, the last prophet of the one and only God. Muslims believe that he did not originate, but that he has always existed in heaven. This holy book is divided into two parts: suras, i.e. chapters, of which Muhammad had a revelation while he was staying in Mecca and part of a surah while he was living in Medina. The Koran was initially learned by heart and it was not written down until the moment when the number of individuals who knew it by heart began to decline sharply. Year of publication: 1844. |
