Sample Text The Islamic view is that God began to reveal the Koran to Muhammad in 610 AD. All revelations were either memorized or recorded during the prophet's lifetime. These revelations were made by Caliph Uthman around 653/654. Mr. AD then collected and standardized in today's form. Later, in the seventh and eighth centuries, diacritical marks and dots were added to the text. Non-Muslim scholars debate how the Koran (in its current form) was transmitted. Traditional scholars accept much of early Islamic literature with a grain of doubt, while skeptics reject it entirely. Both of these positions are generally opposed to Islamic scholars.
