| Sample Text | In his work Understanding Islamic Law: From Classical to Contemporary, Professor Irshad Abdal Haq claims the following: "Sharia, or correct is ash-Sharia, literally means a path, a path to be followed or a clear path to be followed, and this word has taken on the meaning of a path that a believer should follow. In its original meaning, Sharia meant a path to a place with water or a path leading to water, i.e. a path to the source of life. The technical application of this term as a determinant of Islamic law originates directly from The Qur'an while Allah (God) warns the followers of Islam, believers to follow a clear and correct path, the path of the Sharia: Then We set you on the (correct) path of faith and you follow that path, and do not follow the desires of those who do not know it (Quran 45:18)." |
