| Sample Text | Khwaja Shamsu din Muhamad Hafez-e Shirazi, known by his stage name Hafez (better known here as Hafiz) (1325/1326 - 1389/1390), was a Persian lyric poet. His collected works consisting of a large number of verses in Persian (Divan) can be found in the homes of most Iranians who memorize his poems and use them as sayings and proverbs to this day. His life and poems were the subject of a large number of analyses, comments and interpretations, which influenced Persian literature after the fourteenth century more than any other author. The themes of his gazelles are love, faith and showing hypocrisy. His influence on Iranian life can be found in the "Hafiz reading" (fal-e hafez), the frequent use of his poems in Persian traditional music, visual art, and Persian calligraphy. His tomb in Shiraz is a masterpiece of Iranian architecture and people often visit it. Adaptations, imitations and translations of Hafiz's poems exist in all major languages.
