| Sample Text | There are a number of hadiths which claim that Muhammad said that some would desire power, but he knew that God (and the Muslims) would appoint Abu Bakr as the next leader. Sunnis point to the fact that the majority of people accept Abu Bakraz as leader as proof that his choice is wise and just. Here is the story of Musa ibn Aokba in the book Siyarallam an-Nubal by Ad-Dahabi: "Then Ali and Az-Zubayr said: we see that Abu Bakr is more worthy as a righteous successor to the Prophet than anyone else..." The Shia hold that all the stories in which it is claimed that Ali agreed with the choice of Abu Bakr are fabricated. |
