Date of the copyist’s death: (He was alive in the spring of 929) | The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

Surah Amm: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Mujahid said: They do not hope for a reckoning, they do not fear it... ... Chapter: If he yawns, let him put his hand on his mouth... End of it... It is recited in the sixth book, the book on seeking permission.

وقَفَ وحبَّسَ وسبَّلَ وتصدَّقَ بِهذا الكِتابِ الفَقيرُ الحاج عُثْمانُ بْن عليّ كتخدا، على طلَبةِ العِلمِ بِالجامِعِ الأزْهرِ، وجعلَ مقرَّه عَلى رواق الشّوامّ، وقْفًا صَحيحًا شرْعيًّا لا يُباعُ ولا يُرهَن ولا يُمنَع عَن أحدٍ مِن طلَبةِ العِلمِ مَع الحِفظِ والصِّيانةِ، ولا يعير أكْثر مِن أرْبعِ كَراريسَ.
