The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

Chapter on the virtue of the role of the Ansar: Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to us, he said: Ghandar narrated to us, he said: Shu’bah narrated to us, he said: I heard Qatada on the authority of Anas. ... Chapter on his saying: {There has come to you a messenger from among yourselves, to whom is dear what you have despised..} The verse... Abu Khuzaymah and Ya’qub ibn Ibrahim followed him on the authority of his father, and Abu Thabit said, Ibrahim told us and said, “With Khuzaymah or Abu Khuzaymah.” This is the last part and the next part of the first Surah Yunus, peace and blessings be upon him.
