Omar, may God be pleased with him, saw that it was advice to God and His Messenger, and he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, authorized it by saying in the hadith of Abu Saeed with Muslim: Do not write anything from me except the Qur’an, and its purpose is to collect what was written before, so the objection of the Rafidah is not directed at Al-Siddiq, may God be pleased with him. Zaid bin Thab said, Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, said that while Omar was sitting with him and did not speak... ... A similar example has previously been reported on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, and in the interpretation it is like al-Sarim, meaning like a garden. The one whose fruits are hardened to the point that nothing remains in them, or like the night with their burning and blackening, or like the day with their whiteness due to excessive ease.
