He was one of the companions of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, who witnessed Badr. He died in Medina. Omar said, “So I met Uthman ibn Affan, and I showed Hafsa to him, and I said, ‘If you wish, I will marry you to Hafsa bint Omar.’ He said, ‘I will look into my matter...’ Chapter on the Atira. It was narrated on Ali bin Abdullah... on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. He said, ‘There is neither a branch nor a generation.’ He said, ‘The branch is the first product of theirs that they used to slaughter for their tyrants and the Atira in Rajab.’”
