The third was sixteen years or more, and I finished the fourth on Tuesday, the ninth of Rabi’ al-Akhir in the year eight hundred and thirty-nine. Then I continued writing and composing until the aforementioned date of the twenty-first, and the period of my time in writing was ten years, with many days interspersed within it. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful... Chapter on the merit of the one who witnessed Badr, peace be upon him, i.e., this is a chapter on explaining who among the Muslims witnessed the Battle of Badr with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, fighting the polytheists. It should have been said, Chapter on the superiority of the one who witnessed Badr, because what is meant is an explanation of that, not an absolute statement of credit, p. And she said... Chapter: The tooth, bone, and nail are not slaughtered. That is, this is a chapter in which it is mentioned that they are not slaughtered, etc.... P. Qubaysah told us, Sufyan, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abaya bin Rifa’ah, on the authority of Rafi’ bin Khadij, said: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Everything that sheds blood except the tooth and nail.
