Notes
The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

(After the basmala and the prayer) Chapter on the prohibition of touching sales. Huyya ibn Huyya al-Tamimi narrated to us, he said: I read on Malik on the authority of Muhammad ibn Huyya ibn Hibban, on the authority of them, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, forbade touching and rebelliousness. ... Zuhair bin Harb told us, Abdul Rahman bin Mahdi told us, on the authority of Sufyan, on the authority of Alqamah, on the authority of Ibn Buraidah, on the authority of his father, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, who said, “Whoever plays dice, it is as if he had dipped his hand in pig’s blood.” The decoration and gilding are ornate and gilded.
