The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

How was the beginning of the revelation to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and the saying of God Almighty, mentioning it: We have revealed to you just as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. Al-Humaidi Abdullah bin Al-Jazir told us, he said, Sufyan told us... ...what prevented you from praying among the people? He said, “O Messenger of God, I have been struck by a mountain,” nor did he say, “You should be in the highlands, for it is sufficient for you.” The first part was completed from Al-Bukhari, followed by the Book of Prayer...
